Last week we asked a selection of our customers if they had any questions about the products which we could answer for them, here are the top 5 questions which we sent over to the Technical Department here at brickslips to see what advice we could give to help!
Here’s what you asked..
Question 1: Do the brick slips come on panels?
No our brick slips do not come on panels. Our brick slips are 100% authentic and are cut from actual bricks all our slips are individual allowing the maximum amount of flexibility on installation.
Question 2: Do you sell internal corners?
Unfortunately there is no such thing as an internal corner as of yet. We can cut any cut that would be expected from a normal sized brick including brick slips, brick slip headers, brick slip corners and brick slip stretcher reveals.
Question 3: Do you install brick slips? if not who does?
We are not installers and currently do not install our products, A common misconception is that you need a builder to install the brick slips but with the product being effectively a tile we would advise that you contact a local tile installer for a quotation as the process is more akin to tiling than building.
Question 4: Do I have to seal the brick slips once they are installed?
Sealing the product is ultimately a matter for personal preference. You do not have to seal brick slips as bricks are generally never sealed when used as bricks. Although that being said some installations and some internal walls do benefit from being sealed for example a kitchen area where the brick is likely to get splashed with anything other than water. Please see our sealants available.
Question 5: Can brick slips be used for a fireplace?
Off course you can use brick slips to create a fireplace, this is a common question especially with regards to the heat and heat resistance. Clay is naturally heat repellant and will do fine in almost all heated situations, the advice we would give is that common sense prevails and to always point the wall with an approved fire cement and in addition always follow basic safety advice. Please see our inspiration gallery on fireplaces.

Could you please let me know if the brick slips can be applied to an external painted brick wall please
We have a feature wall of brick slips in our kitchen and because they are in the kitchen we have applied sealant. We applied this 2/3 times but my question is what do I do to clean them? They look and feel as though we haven’t applied sealant, so I’m worried the bricks might crumble away.
Hi Teresa, we have many articals already highlighting the best method for cleaning brick slips, here’s a good link for how to clean brick slips for you to have a read. 🙂
