Can the slips be stuck to painted sheet metal?
Hi Derek, unfortunately, you’d need to fix a ply board over the sheet metal to get the adhesive to stick to the wall as a substrate. Sheet metal has no “gripping” capabilities unfortunately. This is the same as it would be for tiling your bathroom & kitchens with ceramic tiles etc. I hope that helps.
Hi
Can these be aplied directly onto existing exterior brickwork? Any particular variants that can/can’t be used and do you supply and fit?
Hi Michael,
Yes as long as the external wall is structurally sound, free of any debris or flakey brick work, you can do this. Just remember that if its not even or flat the imperfections under the slips will be replicated into your slip layers. So where ever possible, we recommend using an external ply-board first as a prefect sub-layer if the wall is damaged. I hope that helps.
Hi there, can they be laid as paving on a concrete base? I’m thinking of herring bone for instance
You can but it has to be one of the slips from our MODA range, which are our engineering brick slips. These MODA brick slips can take more foot traffic and weight than the rest of the wall brick slips that we manufacture. I hope that helps.
Hi, Can brick slip cladding be fixed to a concrete garage external wall which is pebble dashed?
Hi, Can this be laid over pebble dash with use of ply board as substrate? Can then they be painted over? What would be the new thickness with plyboard and slip brick?
thanks
Ideally your substraite needs to be perfectly solid, I would recommend you take off the pebbledash first however if the external ply is attached correctly, i dont see why not. Please seek advice from the external ply supplier for expert weight and tolerance advice.
Hi there. Our house is rendered and we’d like it to be brick instead. Could this be laid over the render?
Can these be used directly onto a springboard OSB panels? Also are these waterproof or do we need to apply additional paint or something to make it waterproof?
Hi I’m doing modular classrooms for a school using new shipping containers. The city requires exteriors be a brick. Can we use this for the exterior of the containers ? Can the brick come in the white color or be pre painted?

Can I apply brick slips directly to an MGO waterproof panel board externally
Can I use brick slips on a round breeze block raised pond and curved garden Walling?
Can they be applied to an external insulation.? Like EWI..?
Can external brick slips be fitted directly to ply? (For a shed wall)
Hi
I would not recommend PLY wood as when PLY gets moist it can de-laminate. The best option would be use a cement particle board or a render board as these are fit for purpose and make for a much more stable substrate.
Cheers
Andy
Hi, I am building a timber framed extension and the exterior wall will be osb 3 boards with breathable felt wrapped over the top of that. I’m thinking if i wanted to use brick slips on the exterior I would need to counter batten over the top of the felt then cement boards fixed to the battens forge brick slips. Would this work? Thanks
Hi ,
Would the brick slips be suitable for garden office exterior , say on to OSB boards or is there an alternative ?
Absolutely, you can use our slips on an exterior for a garden office, just be sure you have an extermal grade ply board installed for your substrate.
Hi there… I have a plaster, painted external garden wall that must have some moisture and the paint blows on NOCODENEEDED it.:: I wanted to clad this with brick slips instead… can I put the brick slips directly onto this? As I don’t have that much depth because the sills are on top… what width would I need in total?
Many thanks
Absolutely, just make sure that you’re aware any imperfections you have on your substrate will echo though into the brick slips. If youre unsure on directions needed. Please seek help from a trained professional brickslip insaller.
Hi – can these be used around a front porch recess? Do you have any examples?
Absolutely, please see some of our instagram posts. There’s been a few examples where people have done this.
Hi can external brick slips be applied directly onto garage that has pebble dash ? Kind regards
Ideally your substraite needs to be perfectly solid, I would recommend you take off the pebbledash first as that would most likely fail if you went onto it with any external render. Seek professional advice if you’re unsure.
Could these be stuck directly ontop of wooden shiplap shed?
If YQP, You can tile onto any type of extenral ply (Please seak manufacturers direction when using an external ply) however remember any imperfections on your subsctrate will shine through onto your brick slips! I hope that helps.
I have a small front garden brick wall with a number of blown brick faces. Rather than re-build or render the wall, would it be possible to fix brick slips over the existing wall to create a new wall surface over the whole lot?
Paul
Hi Paul, Yes you can do this, however be aware that the substrate that you’re putting brick slips onto needs to be structually sound. You might require a expternal ply to be applied over the faces given that the bricks are blown and any imperfections in levels under the slips will be seen in the final brick slip wall.
