We often get asked here at BrickSlips.co.uk, why should I buy brick slips when I can get Brick wallpaper for a quarter of the price?
Recently a lot of DIY interior design sites have been recommending the use of brick wallpaper as an alternative to brick surfaces.
While this may provide a passable imitation of the real product, you would be far better investing in a tile made from the real thing.
Here are some reasons why brick slips are better than brick wallpaper.

We have opened up our chimney breast to hopefully turn it into a seating area. We want to leave the brick exposed but the current bricks are uneven and messy. Could we lay brickslip over it? Thanks
Hi Catriona,
You can but the problem is the uneven brick you’re putting the slips onto is only going to be echo’d onto the slips over the top. The best method is to apply a good base of OSB or Plasterboard, this means you get a flat surface to adhere the brick slips onto for best looking results.. I hope that helps.
We are considering usin brick slips in our kitchen. We have a multi fuel burning stove and would want to put them on the wall behind it as the main feature. Are the brick slips suitable for this in terms of fire rating. The fire can get up to an average temperature of 250 degrees C. The current gap between the fire and the wall is 6cm, this will obviously be reduced if the slips were fitted. Thanks Mary Ann
Hi Mary, All the figures you’ve posted are perfectly fine. We would however recommend that you use our Fire Cement as the Mortar for the installation, as this will stop the heat cracking your mortar when it expands and contracts from the heat.
