Grand Designs Live London 2018 – Day 1

The Grand Designs Live London 2018 show is a very special event on the BrickSlips team calendar.

Many shows take place across the year but none have the level of energy and interest that Grand Designs creates. The event was born from an almost cult following of the successful TV show, which catapulted Kevin McCloud and its stars to the limelight.

First lets look back on the last 24 hours

The team spent a full day erecting our show stand and making all the finishing touches. This year we have an expanded product range and new collections to showcase. Exciting and refreshing upgrades to the stand set it apart from our previous shows.

Perfectionists at work, every panel and brick board had to be cleaned and dusted to within an inch of its atomic existence.

Having arrived at the venue prior to the official opening, it was great to see so many last min touches and preparations taking place on almost every exhibitors stand.

A sneak peak out into the corridors and a mass crowd of budding grand designers awaited the moment that Kevin McCloud declared the show open.

In his own unique style Kevin decided to choose the Cockroach to ride on as method of entrance. This is a fantastic piece of work/art/transport that was created from waste collected across London. A solar paneled pedal powered marvel, that Kevin thoroughly enjoyed riding on his victory lap into the main hall. This joyous entrance was followed by a fanfare of music and people.

As the crowds entered our team swiftly moved back to our stand as it was clear this was going to be a very busy day.

New product ranges proving a hit!

The crowds on Day 1 quickly found their way through to the brickslips stand, we soon became a hive of activity, interest and bustle.

This year we chose to unveil two new collections. One of the ranges unveiled was our new Moda Collection.

The Moda range is an exciting new quartet of products that all exhibit style class and sophistication.

The uniform modern colourings of The Moda Collection have had a great reception from the visitors on Day 1.

The team had great fun chatting and discussing this exciting new set of products.

All about Brick Slips

For us, our focus as with every other exhibit is our brick slip products. As enjoyable as it is, it can become tiring talking about the same subject all day. In the interest of the show we actively encouraged the team to take time out and see what was happening in the rest of the hall throughout the day.

HOT PICK! Grand Designs Live London 2018 – Day 1

Sustainability is key and the highlight for our day was watching Kevin and Ian discuss Natural building Techniques, who would have known that hay bails and something so seemingly simple would be so effective. A great interesting forum which had everybody buzzing with delight.

Summary

A fantastic day for us on day one, a great show start and the perfect start to a great week ahead.
