Welcome to Ask Andy, the go to place for those questions such as ‘ Do I have to point brick slips’ . These are questions that you might need the answers too. This month top questions are featured below:
1: Do i get everything to install the brick slips included?
Congratulations, choosing your brick slips is the hardest part of the job. On our website we do sell everything you need to install your brick slips. Accessories have to be purchased separately and are not included with the brick slips. Our adhesives, gun injectable mortars and brick slip spacers all work with our products. Sometimes you installer may have a preference as to brand or type so always consult with them prior to ordering.
2: I have ordered too many boxes, can I return these for a refund?
We understand that sometimes it is difficult to calculate quantities. You can return any full boxes of brick slips too us for a full refund. Due to batching and stock rotation all returns must be done within 30 days of delivery. We can only refund for the the products returned, we cannot refund for the delivery service you have received.
3: Do you have any brick slips which are thinner than 20mm?
Great News, we have a new range of manufactured clay brick slips. Our eLite range of modern brick slips are all manufactured to a 14mm thickness. This product is lighter and available in great range of colours and styles.
4: Do I have to point brick slips?
Although most projects are pointed using a gun injected pointing mortar. This is not something which needs to be done. So to answer the question, Do I have to point brick slips? the answer is No.
So long as the brick slips are adhered o the wall correctly then you do not need to point the wall. Un-pointed brick work with a 10mm space has a cobbled and 3D appearance. You can also install brick slips without any joint space at all. This method is highly popular in Europe and has a unique modern aesthetic.
5: My brick slips look darker in the box than my sample?
This is a very popular question which our team get asked on a daily basis. The product is cut using water and can retail a level of moisture. As this moisture drys up the brick slips lighten. You usually find that in a well ventilated, centrally heated home it can take a week to ten days for the brick slips to fully lighten.
