How do you apply brick slip pointing mortar?
The usual method of application would be to mix the mortar and then use a mortar pointing gun to inject the mortar into the brick joint. Although the product is specifically designed for gun injection it can be mixed stiff and pointed in by hand.

Best method for mixing pointing mortar?
Mortar should always be mixed as per the instructions on the bag, settlement time is crucial as the chemistry requires the product to start curing before it can be pointed in with a gun. If the instructions are not followed correctly and the mortar is not mixed right then it will either be too loose or stiff for the gun.
Does pointing mortar come in batches?
As with any manufactured bagged product mortar does come in batches. Although there is minimal deviation between batches it can happen. We always dispatch orders where product is taken from the same batch. This way we you can be assured of colour consistency.
Are mortar samples available?
Mortar samples are available. if you require a mortar sample please email our sales office via our contact us page and they will be able to organise this for you.
Can pointing mortar be used inside and outside?
Pointing mortar can be used both internally and externally and weathers in exactly the same way as normal sand and cement mortar.
Can mortar be mixed to create bespoke colours?
Mortars can be mixed to create bespoke colours although we would not advise doing this as it can be very difficult to achieve a consistent colour throughout.
Is it a DIY product?
Gun injection pointing mortar can be used by any competent DIY enthusiast. Providing the installation instructions are followed it can actually be quite a rewarding DIY job.
What area does one bag of pointing mortar cover?
One bag of pointing mortar will cover approximately 4m2 of standard 10mm joints. This calculation is based on a standard brick bond pattern.
