When researching new products our developers travel to different places across the country. Their sole aim is to look for inspiration and ideas which may fit and work with the kind of products that we manufacture. This is a process that as a company we have always done and has so far stood us in good stead.
Our current range of brick slip tiles are highly regarded within the design sector and our products have been used on many high profile installation.
The key for us as a company is to carefully study trends, the best place to do this is in the nations capital city London. Many products which we look at simply do not make the cut. All of our brick slips are developed and created to carefully sit within our already established range.
Having been asked many times for a Smeed Dean Bricks style yellow brick our researchers started work on developing our very own version of this classic London Brick.
What are Smeed Dean Bricks?
Smeed Dean Bricks are brick works established in Sittingbourne Kent circa 1850s, becoming one of the largest employers in Kent. The Smeed Dean brick works became the largest brick works in the world. Its brick were shipped all over the country and the world. Famous for providing the bricks used in both Buckingham Palace and the Tower of London.
Famed for producing London Yellow Stock bricks, red faced and multi coloured ranges, Smeed Deans influence helped to sculpt the London that we see today.
Our Interpretation of Smeed Dean Bricks
The new Thames Yellow Blend Brick Slip offers up every bit of colour and detail which has become synonymous with the Smeed Dean Bricks.
Our new products has a strong yellow clay base with a sand weathered finish, pitted black spots were created in the firing process by adding different chemicals that react with the clay and cause the surface to have small eruptions of dark colour.
The appearance of this new brick slip is traditional. The product is almost identical to the historic Smeed Dean bricks that helped build the city of London.

This product is a 65mm x 210mm x 20mm brick slip, and comes in the standard 1/2m2 boxes. Corner, Header and Stretcher Reveal slips are also available within this product range as well as our Free Sample Boards.
