When it comes to designing and building with brick slips size really does matter! Available in both metric and imperial brick tiles, its often hard to decide what size is needed.
Why does the brick tile size matter?
Be it a metric brick tile or an imperial brick tile, size is very important. Brick sizes can have an impact on a wide range of things like how the wall is designed and the overall aesthetic appearance.
How do I know what size I need ?
As all of our brick slips are cut from real handmade and reclaimed bricks there are notable size differences. Historically brick sizes in the United Kingdom have varied some what.
Dating back before the 1780`s bricks were often classed as two inch. These smaller imperial bricks were used in mass up until a government tax on bricks in 1784.
After this date factories produced the larger three inch bricks which are commonly known as imperial bricks today.
Just to add a little more sizing to the mix we also have the modern day brick size which is commonly referred to as metric which has a depth of 65mm.
Do we offer brick slips in these sizes?
Increased demand for brick tiles or brick slips as we call them, has meant that we have a great array of different styles and sizes.
Our product range offers both metric and imperial brick tiles.
Whatever brick size is needed for our customers projects, we know how important it is to consider these brick tile sizes right from the design stage of the project.
A larger imperial brick tile means less tiles are needed to complete a wall. A smaller imperial brick tile would mean a lot more tiles are needed. Imperial brick tiles are more often used when the aesthetic is determined by the brick the house or building has been constructed with. Restoration and renovation is a large market for this particular brick slip type.
When looking at metric brick slips the majority of hand made bricks in the UK are made to a standard brick size depth of 65mm high. These brick sizes are being used by architects and designers to create some very impressive, modern styles of buildings.
We also offer some classic London brick types in a 65mm metric such as our Capital Mixture and London Weathered Yellow.
The choice is yours, Metric or Imperial Brick Tiles!.
There are over one thousand different types of bricks manufactured in the UK at this moment in time. Along side thousands of historic imperial brick types that have been made.
Our brick slip range offers a snap shot of the most popular ranges. We are proud to be able to offer an array of sizes and methods of manufacturing.
We really do have a brick size to suit any project type from traditional to ultra-modern.
