“This week we are looking at Brick slip internal feature walls”
Welcome to Ask Andy, the go to place for those questions that you might need the answers too. This month is a special feature, looking at internal feature wall questions?
I am looking to do a brick slip feature wall in my bathroom, can brick slips be used in a bathroom?
We have several companies that buy brick slips solely for installation within wet rooms and bathrooms. There are a few things you need to consider before installing brick slips in a bathroom. The first is texture! some parts of the body are more delicate than others and bricks are usually rough in texture which could be a problem if you were to brush past them whilst having a shower. Our recommendation is to choose a tumbled or smooth brick type like our Olde Bayswater or Tuscan. These will have less sharp facets and will work well in a bathroom environment.
Secondly we recommend that all tiles are sealed after installation, brick is naturally used to wet weather but for frequent bouts of wetness we recommend using a natural stone sealant to seal your brick tiles.
I am only looking at a small area, can I install these myself ?
Indeed you can! Installing brick slips is much like installing any other tile. Our brick tiles are installed with exactly the same principles and methods. All brick slips are fixed to the wall with a tile adhesive, using spacers then grouted or mortared up post installation.
To see just how easy it is please download our free installation guide on our accessories page.
Should I look to match my house brick when installing a brick slip internal feature wall?
Many customers think this is the case but in reality it certainly is not. The vast majority of UK houses are built with uninspiring mass produced bricks that offer no character and very little in the way of colour.
Our products bring colour and class to any installation, all of our products are hand picked and selected for their unique qualities. These qualities allow an brick slip internal feature wall design to outshine and go beyond the mundane appearance, that often the external brick work exudes.
How do I work out how many boxes of brick slips I will need?
We offer a calculation matrix on our boxed product page. This will allow you to get a rough idea of how many boxes you may require. We always advise that you allow a minimum of 5% for cuts and breakages.
If you would would rather one of our team give you an estimate then please fee free to send us an email with your measurements and we will be able to give you a comprehensive quotation.

Hi Andy!
Help! I need to choose the grout for my Lambeth mixture brickslips – however I can’t decide. Can you show pictures of them pointed with each of the colours so I can see how it looks? If not which would you choose? I want the wall to look traditional, warm and rustic.
Thanks!
