Welcome to Ask Andy, the go to place for those questions that you might need the answers too. This month top questions are featured below, Enjoy.
What tools do I need for brick pointing?
Pointing your finished mortar joints is often seen as the most labour intensive part of the installation.
Your brick slip mortar joints are the weakest and most vulnerable part of the installation so using the right tools is imperative to a successful installation.
Once you have pointed in your mortar with a mortar pointing gun you need to finish off the pointing recess and complete the installation, alternatively a small trowel will be needed if you are using traditional sand and cement mortar.
The key tool you will need to finish the surface is a brick jointer; these are inexpensive and can be found in our accessories section of our website.
Will brick slips really give me a brick effect wall?
Absolutely, our brick slips will give you a brick effect wall. All of our brick slips are cut from actual bricks so are 100% authentic. When installed and pointed correctly they are indistinguishable from a real brick wall.
You should always feel confident that our brick slips will achieve a real brick effect wall.
Why do you recommend rapid set tile adhesive?
Rapid Set tile adhesive is always recommended due to its extensive technical performance.
We always recommend rapid set tile adhesive to all of our customers. Available on our accessories page it is a professional quality brick slip adhesive, specifically formulated for quick installations and use on brick slips.
The wall adhesive we supply works with a large list of substrates and is suitable for internal and external brick slip application.
Although I am recommending our rapid set tile adhesive this does not mean other types of wall adhesive will not do the job, if you are looking at different brands and suppliers then you would need to check with the product specification and establish that it can be used with masonry or clay based tiles.
Can I pick out the bricks I want and return the rest?
This is something which we cannot do unfortunately; all of our bricks are individual and are made up of specific blends of bricks.
This is something that is automated and we are unable to control. All of our products are unique and to pick out what you want and sort through the colourings with be unfair to other customers and would dilute the blend which we offer.

Hi John, It’s in the product description, however for ease, the coverage is 6m2 max (Mixing water ratio: 4.2-4.6ltr/20kg bag). Cheers.
