When you place a brick slip order, one of the most important things you can do is to plan ahead.
Although brick slips are relatively simple and easy to install sometimes they can be challenging depending on the projects specifics.
Fundamentally the more prepared you are prior to the project the easier the process of installation is going to be.
Choosing the right product
It can seem daunting when you first look at all the various colours and textures available. One of our biggest tips is to create a mood board.
Mood boards have various names within the design industry but essentially they are all the same.
Try matching in colours and swatches from the various paints, tiles, timber and textiles into one small space. This gives you a great idea as to what works.
Get your numbers right
The most significant thing you can do to make sure your project runs smoothly is buy the correct amount of brick slips from the word go.
Order extra brick slips from the start, this will prevent having to order more. We are not saying that ordering more is a problem because it isn’t.
The issue comes as brick slips are natural products cut from real brick.
Colour variations can happen from batch to batch which could lead to your additional brick slips having a slightly different colour, texture or appearance.
This is the beauty of the product, all brick slips are unique. Coupled with extra delivery costs and lead times on additional orders it is safe to say getting it right from the off is going to make the project much more hassle free.
How much extra you should order
We advise ordering a minimum of 5% extra when placing your brick slip order. This will cover any breakages during transit ( it happens ) and any loss of material through cutting or installation measuring mistakes.
Having a safety net of extra brick slips makes the installation process run much smoother and will save on costs in the long run.
We would especially recommend ordering extras when ordering brick slip corners and stretcher reveals. These are delicately cut bricks that until installed are fragile and prone to breakages.
Finally
Enjoy the process, install your brick slips and relax.
