So you have decided to create a brick slip feature wall in your home! A wonderful blank canvass to apply your newly purchased brick slips on. But wait!…. What is that!….Oh no you have a radiator on the wall.
What you shouldn’t do !!
We can categorically tell you that applying the brick slips around your radiator will not look good, in fact it will look far from good.
If you have spent good money on the finest brick slips and have everything set for your feature wall please do not cut corner and waste the product by installing them like this.
This is not the way you brick slip a wall when there is a radiator is in your way.
If you are hiring tradesmen and installing like this is suggested then we would definitely recommend contacting Rogue Traders and emailing Dom Littlewood. This is not how this obstacle should be treated.
What you should do !!
If you want to install your feature wall correctly then our advice is remove and refit. Always remove any radiator prior to installing. This may require a plumber or electrician depending on the type of radiator you have. Once removed you can install your brick slips correctly. Once the brick slips have been fitted and pointed you are then fine to refit the radiator over the brick slips.
By removing and refitting you are giving your brick slip wall the very best treatment and allowing its realism and character to not be diminished by poor workmanship.
Can I fix to brick slips?
Yes, you can anchor and fix to brick slips once they are fitted. brick slips can be drilled and worked with just like any other brick wall. We would only recommend drilling brick slips using a quality masonry drill bit. We would also advise that any fixings are mounted centre of the brick and not too near the edge. This will reduce the possibility of the brick slip cracking or breaking.
