“Living in sync” Garden – Featuring Our Olde Heritage brick slips – Awarded SILVER MERIT
Here at BrickSlips we see, hear, live and breath our brick slips, and there is no better way to do it than standing in the intense sunshine on a warm summers day at the press preview of the BBC Gardeners World Live 2017.
Being able to participate and supply our superb Olde Heritage brick slips for use on Artemis Landscapes “Living in Sync” garden has been a huge privilege of ours.
The show garden which can be found on APL Avenue at the show had given us much more of a surprise than what we had anticipated.
It’s often hard to fully visualise a final result from an initial concept drawing, and although we had an idea of how this show garden would end up looking we still didn’t know how well the brick slips which we had supplied would fit in with the floral dynamics and timber features.
We arrived at the preview mid afternoon and swiftly sought out to find the “Living in Sync” Show garden. Albeit this quest was short lived as the striking nature and construction of the stand was hard to miss.
We will be doing a special featured case study on the stand so I will save the detail for our more in depth look.
What I will say is that I have never seen the Olde Heritage Brick slips look so fitting.
Our thoughts at first contact were that this truly inspiring and quintessentially English showpiece was almost certainly going to win an award and it did just that.
To our surprise the award ceremony kick started with a generous flow of Cava (fruit juice for the drivers) and a sublimely British carrot cake which added a nice touch to an already joyous day.
We spent 20 minutes waiting in anticipation for the judge’s results to be revealed.
A burst of pride, elation and relief beamed across the Artemis Landscapes team when the result of Silver Merit was read out by Senior Judge Mark Gregory.Hard work from Nick Green and his team and a unique front garden design by Viv Seccombe had secured this first time team a Silver Merit.
We would like to extend our thanks to Nick, Rachel, Bridget, Craig and Viv for their commitment to using real brick slip cladding within their design and wish them a huge congratulations from everyone here at BrickSlips.
The award was well deserved by all, the show garden which boasts practical features, beautiful design and an embryonic attachment to sustainability can be seen at the NEC BBC Gardeners World Live from the 15th June through to the 18th June.
Well done all!
Don’t forget to look out for our Case study – Olde Heritage “Living in Sync”
