We love what @thetravellinggays have done with the revamp of their city pad!

Firstly, meet two dads, whose love for their family and travelling adventures have inspired us all. In between travelling and enjoying time with their family, they are renovating their beautiful home.

Here we showcase their awesome new kitchen – designed and curated with the utmost modernity.

Kitchen inspiration

Starting with a white kitchen wall, the brief was to find a brickslip that would accentuate their existing dark cabinetry and highlight the room’s features. The kitchen is such a bright room. Large patio doors extend out into the garden, and similarly sky lights in the ceiling add bursts of natural light. This floods the kitchen with sunshine and warmth.

It’s clear to see that so much time and effort has gone into planning the kitchen. The dark grey panelling and matching column radiator, laid horizontally instead of vertically, show the design flair of this couple. In addition, matching grey windows and doors seamlessly flow throughout, certainly blending well with the dark grey hues of the brickslips.

Urban Weathered Red Brick Slips

Clean, crisp modern lines. A bold kitchen that boasts dark cabinetry, offset with a mixture of wooden and granite worktops, that totally complement each other. It showcases the wonderful Urban Weathered Red brickslips to create a contemporary backdrop.

Urban Weathered Red brick slips have a consistent light surface texture. Made from red and dark clays, this subtle blend harbours a true industrial look. In addition, this product exhibits noticeable degrees of colour variation within the clay base and subtle texture variances.

The application of the slips was undertaken using rapid set adhesive and natural mortar, to accentuate the colour of the brick work. Attention to detail has been maintained throughout. Mixing modern décor with ergonomic kitchen space. Taking care to install the extractor fan, shelving and sockets afterwards certainly allows for an easier brickslip installation process.

Accessorise!

Importantly, Brickslips are easy to accessorise. Scaffold board shelving with wrought iron brackets perfectly frame the cooking area.
The modern gold handles of the cabinetry match the feature gold tap, which takes centre stage in the kitchen island. Now pair industrial furniture and pendant lighting with contemporary oak wooden flooring, and you instinctively feel at home here.
