Brickwork that works both sides of the pond
The modern office is no longer seen as a sterile and dank environment. Over 100 years of psychological studies have proven that happy employees and more loyal and more productive. The surge in modern office design has been steadily growing over the past 20 years and is showing no sign of slowing down. Our perception and expectations as employees is higher than ever and the work environment is a key factor for employers when attracting staff.
This stunning case study showcases how brickwork can really lift a design and elevate it to a natural and warm working space. Located in Colorado USA, this 1600 square meter space shows just how much modern office design has improved.
Design
The building itself is an old 1970s office building. The designers have managed to restyle the whole building using modern aesthetics and a contemporary theme. The interior layout and space is both welcoming and vibrant. With multiple areas that can be flexibly customised, this office is highly adaptable to most business models.
Brickwork and brick facades make this space human and earthy in appearance. Using raised flooring the designers managed to incorporate the buildings electrical, mechanical and utilities beneath the floor. This design enabled greater use of more inviting and homely materials and textures through the design.
Reclaimed and vintage white oak and pine has been used throughout this space. The timber has a great effect when coupled with the cladding and custom furniture.
Product
Creating internal brick work is easy when using the right product. Our Elite Range of brick slips are a fantastic product for use on brick cladding and office installations. The Nordic brick slip is a crisp and engineered real clay brick slip. This product works amazingly well against timber and natural palettes of tone.
Achieving this look the brick slips are installed using a rapid setting tile adhesive and are pointed using a gun injected pointing mortar.
Using engineered corner slips also means that the look of a real brick can be maintained.
Our Nordic Elite brick slips offer crisp and consistent colourings easy installation and ample character.
Result
A brilliantly executed office space that has been designed and fitted with impeccable precision. The space offers warmth, function, fun and class, a great deal of which comes from the quality brick work throughout.
This multi functional commercial space is a real joy for everyone. Employers, employees, visitors and clients can all benefit from this copious space.
