Lambeth Mixture given a VIP pass to this modern event suite
It is always great to see our real clay products being used in large scale internal projects. Etc.venues decided to use our Lambeth Mixture brick slips as a key surface key product in their showstopper of a venue at London’s iconic County Hall.
The County Hall venue is as stunning on the inside as it is on the outside with over 68,000 sq ft of multi use event space over etc.venues two floors. This stunning installation has created suites for conferences, meetings and events.
With the location being situated on London’s Southbank it occupies a flawless location where event goers can take in the breathtaking views over The Houses of Parliament, Big Ben and the London Eye.
The design team that have worked on the County Suite have created a multifaceted maze of rooms and areas. Rooms and areas have been designed to cater for up to 900 people at a time.
A principle design element within this suite is the incorporation of smaller conference suites and meeting rooms giving professionals areas of exclusivity and privacy.
One key note to take on board with this renovation is that it has been sympathetically restored, keeping some of the buildings original and charming features coupled with high quality design in classic copper and velvety tones.
Cool lighting, timber flooring and soft furnished areas make for a relaxing and stressless environment.
Using brick slips as a running texture throughout the design binds every one of the rooms together. The clients opted to use Lambeth Mixture brick slips, the colours of this clay brick are very much distinctive to the Greater London area.
Having patches and pillars of brick work not only breaks up the walls and windows, it adds a cool and relaxing vibe to the rooms.
Lambeth Mixture has long been a favourite brick slip in our range. The reason for its popularity lies in the bespoke blend of red and yellow clays.
Post WW2, clays were brought in to London from around the country and houses were rebuilt using what ever clays the brick works could obtain. This distinctive mixture of red and yellow clays has become iconic to many areas of London.
The use of Lambeth Mixture brick slips has really been a great benefit to the installation. The mild texture and diverse pallete brings personality to the support columns in the main areas. The product also acts as a wonderfully natural mount for the meeting room windows. Inspired and expertly installed to the finest detail.
The slips were installed using rapid set tile adhesive and pointed using our light grey gun injected pointing mortar.
Creating an enviable and highly functional event venue in the heart of London cannot be easy. The space and location are key, etc.venues have managed to design and construct such a space. This great location is only minutes away from Waterloo and Westminster stations.
This is a splendid example of how brick slips can enhance a design. Showing us how they can work in harmony with other build elements to create a great project.
