California Dreaming, and a touch of brick today
Converting a traditional warehouse into a modern office complex is not a straight forward task.
This amazing case study shows how this can be done using brick slips amongst other materials to an exceptionally high standard.
Design
The first thing you can tell from the offset is that the designers had a clear vision of how they wanted the office to turn out. Designers often find this the easiest part of the job, with a clear purpose for the buildings use and the right planning offices of this caliber can be achieved with ease.
Using real brick slip cladding and some really funky materials such as polished concrete, artistic sculptures and ceiling art the theme was set from the offset.
Themes are very important to a design and having a theme in place can help designers direct further decisions when it comes to choosing furniture, equipment and decorating materials.
The historic nature of the warehouse is celebrated by internal brick slip pillars, these pillars are created using handmade brick slips. The brick slips are given a carpet or rag finish with the mortar. This finish fives a very industrial and messy look. The look desired for the project.
Solid oak flooring when paired with the existing brick and the brick cladding brings a raw edge to the whole office suite.
The whole area of this office space is designed to impress.
