The inclusion of pigments provides a range of consistent colour.

Is your pointing mortar cement based?

The pointing mortar we offer is a cement-free mortar which is suitable for applications involving most current brick slip systems. Accommodating limited movement during fixing.

I have some unused pointing mortar left over can i store it?

Our pointing mortar does have a shelf life and this will be clearly labeled on the bag. If you do want to store it short term then store in tightly-closed, original container in a dry, cool and well-ventilated place. When kept under these conditions between temperatures of 5-45°C, the shelf life of the material will be 6 months from the date of manufacture.

I am using your mortar to re-point an existing wall, do you have any tips?

In order to ensure adequate bonding of the new mortar to the masonry, it is important that the old mortar is removed, to a minimum depth of twice the joint width, and that any residual dust is removed from the joint.

If the masonry is porous, joints should be wet down prior to re-pointing to prevent excessive suction.

Do I need a grouting gun to use your mortar?

You will find a grouting gun the easiest way of applying your mortar. The pointing mortar is easily mixed and applied using our mortar pointing gun, and is the only way to achieve a consistent colour throughout your project.

Do I need to use pointing mortar or can i use traditional methods?

You can always use a traditional sand and cement mortar for pointing up your brick slips. This method is tried and tested and will look fantastic, be sure to get a skilled tradesman to point up for you as this method can take some practice.

Why not Ask Andy!

If you’re in doubt then give Andy a shout in the comments box below!
