Real Brick Slips vs Brick slips on mesh let the information flow and the battle commence.
What is the difference?
In the real world, for every successful product that is manufactured there are dozens of fake or faux products scattered out in the shadows which are sold to the masses.
These fake products usually offer what they believe are incentivized benefits that set them apart from the real thing.
This is a common sales tactic and a way of hi-jacking the success of a particular item.
From a consumers point of view there are always going to be people that want the real McCoy and those that want a cheaper inferior look alike. Just like Rolex and their prestigious watch line, you can buy a real one or you can pay less and buy a cheap imitation.
A salesman offering a fake Rolex will often boast the inferior differences as benefits.
“Buy our Rolex its much lighter” actually translates to “it doesn’t have the highly engineered watch mechanism that a real Rolex has”
“Buy our Rolex for only £150 save £5000” “available now, no wait time”
The list goes on and on, and some may see these offerings and spend hard earned cash on a lookalike. Here at brick slips we are not looking for those kind of customers.
Real Brick Slips and brick slips on mesh comparisons!
It is true there are cheaper brick slips available out there. Whilst we strive to stay competitive and we always look to price match like for like products.
It is impossible for us to compare our products against fake imitations. Mere facts do not do enough to convey the difference in quality of a real product vs an imitation.
Brick slips Colour
Colour is one of the first things that becomes apparent when you look at a real clay brick slip in the same glance as a fake imitation the quality difference is instant.
Fake brick slips are manufactured from coloured concrete or mortar. The colouring process is not the same as a natural clay, being artificial the colours always seem fake and faux in appearance. Reds often look pink and with a great deal of dyes they are also affected by UV and IR light.
Lightening and fading over time is common for these moulded products.
Fading and insipid colouring’s never happen with our real clay brick tiles.
Brick slips Texture
One of the main attractions to having a real brick slip wall installed it the natural textures that they bring to a surface. When handmade textured bricks are fired the surface and texture is manipulated by the heat to create unique bricks.
With reclaimed and tumbled bricks the same result is given, a unique individual product that when installed offers complete authenticity.
Unfortunately as you can see, brick slips on mesh and cast brick slips just cannot replicate this authentic real look. Using a fake or faux product will ultimately result in the wall and surface looking inferior and cheap.
Ease of installation
All of our brick slip products come as individual tiles. Expertly cut from individual real clay bricks. Installation of our products is done in exactly the same way as any other tile. See installation guide.
Some fake or faux brick slips on mesh come precast into fabric. These brick slips on mesh contain 10, 12, 14 and even up to 20 tiles.
The hook for these product is “ Ease of installation” . These products are not easy to install. Applying adhesive and getting a wobbly tile that is pre sized to fit is very difficult. Feature walls, fireplaces and pillars all differ in dimensions making these brick slips on mesh products very tricky to install.
Brick tiles will get chipped and broken when cutting and with installation.
Our product offers flexibility of choice. Tiles can always be omitted from installation and substituted.
Brick slips on mesh products do not offer this, if one tile is damaged then the whole web is unable to be used.
This fact alone can make these products very frustrating and costly.
Brick slips Weight
Like for like, brick slips on mesh tiles are marginally lighter than our real clay brick slips. This has no effect on the uses for our product vs a faux or fake product.
All of our products are a safe weight for use internally or externally.
As with bathroom tiles, travertine and natural stone is obviously heavier than traditional porcelain, this has no effect on the installation as they all fall well within the limitations of what a structurally sound wall can carry.
Brick slips Fire Rated
All of our real clay brick slips are A1 fire classified. Made from 100% clay our products will not catch fire.
Always fired for up to 40 hours at temperatures of between 871 ºC to 1316 ºC. Our products offer full heat protection.
That fact alone qualifies our products as fully A1 Rated.
Brick slip Costs
When you look at the costs of faux products compared to our real clay products they it really is a varied playing field.
Like for like costs are fairly similar with some of the fake tiles available being the same of more expensive with our product lines.
There are plaster and mortar made products that are available cheaper than our products, this is something which we would never entertain in the way of competing.
A lion and a common household tabby are both cats, but the comparisons really end there. We feel that these fake products and our real products have that same comparability.
To really bring this comparison to a close, all products available within our industry have their place.
With our products we look for the customer that has an eye for detail and wants the real deal. Our customers have no wish to compromise on aesthetics and quality.
Authenticity and individuality are key for our customer base. The need for real 100% clay products and real reclaimed brick products is worth more to them.
