If you are looking for brick feature wall ideas then you have certainly come to the right place. Deciding on the perfect feature wall can be tricky, especially when there are that many different styles and types to choose from.
To help you sift through the endless ideas and possibilities we have decided to give out our top 5 recommended ideas for creating a brick feature wall.
1: Inside out
Choosing the location of your brick feature wall will affect how realistic the brick slips will look. The ultimate location for any brick slip feature wall is on a supporting wall.
Picture the scene…… You have peeled back the paint and plaster to reveal an amazing patchwork of handmade old bricks that look stunningly exposed. This is the ultimate scenario, but sadly this rarely happens. Instead of wasting time and effort chipping back that old plaster you can install a brick slip feature wall. Exposed brickwork perfection.
The inside of outer supporting walls is always going to be the best location for the most realistic exposed brick feature wall idea!
2: A commanding chimney breast
Sadly, most if not all new builds have no fireplace. No fireplace means no chimney or chimney breast. The feature of a fire and chimney breast is quintessential to the traditional family home.
Creating a chimney breast and fire within a living room is a great brick feature wall idea.
Decide on the location and use timber studding and either plasterboard or render board to wall out your faux breast. Once the substructure has been built you can tile with our real clay brick slips.
A fireplace being either active or dormant will add ample character to a room.
3: Bathroom Feature
Brick slips work fantastically well within a bathroom. When installing brick slips within a bathroom the saying less is more comes into great effect. A single feature wall can add warmth and life to a bathroom. We would recommend installing slips on your primary utility wall. This would be the wall where you would have the basin and mirror traditionally.
When using brick slips within a bathroom setting we would always recommend a min of 3 coats of sealer once they have been installed.
4: Manhattan White Brick
If you are looking for a modern monochromatic look then look at using our Manhattan White brick slips. The white clay brickwork oozes contemporary splendour. A Manhattan white brick slip feature wall is like installing a blank canvass, one which can take changes in texture and more importantly colour.
Fantastic for both kitchens and bathrooms. The Manhattan white brick slips create an industrial, American styled look which is growing ever more popular.
5: Kitchen Feature
Focusing on the elements which bind a kitchen design together, the tiles you choose has to be one of the top points. Adding a brick slip feature wall to a kitchen injects texture.
Texture especially in kitchens can often be an afterthought. By adding a brick slip feature wall the texture and colour that it creates makes for interior perfection.
Choosing the style and product is merely down to taste, in our opinion it is the tactility and realism that a brick slip feature wall adds that makes you want to be in it.
i want to cover a wall over my fire place.
do i have to remove the skirting boards and coving.
Hi
Best practice would be to remove the skirting, tile to the floor and then put the skirting back on. This gives the illusion and look that the wall is brick rather than tile.
Alternately there is no reason why you cant tile up to the skirting and leave it on. Worth considering though that brick slips will project 25mm from the wall so may cause a stepping out in the wall.
Kind Regards
