1886 Bar & Grill – Isle of Man, UK
A double shot of brick slips with our Olde Bayswater and Cinda for 1886 Bar & Grill
If you are looking for an unforgettable night out on the Isle of Man, then 1886 Bar & Grill has one of the best reputations on the island.
This trendy, modern upmarket bar & grill has recently opened its doors, and has made use of two of our most favorite brick slips products.
Design
Situated in the town Douglas, Isle of Man, 1886 Bar & Grill has been designed to work as a multi purpose social venue. Catering for high foot traffic and to a party style look, the designers kept to a simple palette of tones and textures and have created a modern and sleek looking bar.
Textures used in low lit venues are key, when the lights are dimmed and a party atmosphere is created. It is the textures that create the ambiance and feel.
Soft furnishings, timber flooring, exposed brick work and creative lighting make for a great entertaining space. The designers of this venue have taken that to a new level of excellence.
This venue is both light and airy and also modern in appearance.
Product
The designers of 1886 Bar & Grill chose to use two very different looking brick slip products within this installation.
The brick slip product used across the back of the main bar and over the giant main feature wall is the Olde Bayswater Brick slip.
There are few products that we can say don’t look out of place in any application and the Olde Bayswater Blend is certainly one of them.
Reclaimed in appearance and handmade these stunning real clay brick slips make a massive difference.
Their setting behind extensive glassware and large TV screens brings an earthy reality and balances out the rooms tones.
Our New Vertex Range
Moving up stairs into the VIP bar the brickwork changes somewhat. Our Cinda brick slips which are part of the Vertex range bring a modern design twist to this cosy space.
The vertex range are brick slips which are cut from the top of the brick. This specialist cutting leaves what the industry call ” a frog” in the slip. This feature in the brick opens up great and exciting textures that work really well in modern designs.
The brick slips in this installation were installed using a rapid setting tile adhesive and the Olde Bayswater brick slips were pointed using a gun injected pointing mortar.
During this installation the Cinda brick slips were positioned without a mortar joint. This method give a more blanket and unbroken surface.
Result
Having respect for the product allows it to deliver. The product is only a third of what the end result is.
Firstly you need a great designer, a designer that can work with and plan using specialist and quality materials.
Secondly you need installers that can realise that vision, installers that treat the product with the care and respect it deserves always deliver.
Third and finally, its all about using quality material. Here at brick slips we only manufacture the very best in wall cladding products.
With the 1886 Bar & Grill the design, product choice and installation have delivered.
Faultless and deserving a great job all round we think.
