Pizza Express – Meadowhall, Sheffield, UK
Our Knightsbridge Multi brick slips offering up that rustic feel
Pizza Express was founded in 1965, and currently has over 400 restaurants in the UK, and 40 more overseas in Europe, Hong Kong, India and the Middle East.
As part of a national re-vamp, Pizza Express has been overhauling the design of its UK restaurants to bring pizza chain’s look more in line with its newer competitors.
The redesign follows the company’s acquisition in 2014 by Chinese firm Hony Capital for £900 million.
The designers for Pizza Express came up with four interior concepts. The four new styles (high street, heritage, urban and retail) have all been designed to suit the restaurants placing in different types of areas with different demographics.
Choosing the most the most versatile style, the designers of Pizza Express Meadowhall opted for the Retail look.
This look is a fantastic all-round concept. The restaurants design boasts a modern feel that is aimed at everyone from families and couples to young professionals.
Design features within this impressive renovation include our stunning Knightsbridge Brick slips, timber finishes and patterned tiling.
This wonderfully modern renovation works well within the Meadowhall shopping centre and helps the design stand out from the rest.
The design is colourful and practical and has a great use of materials including our Knightsbridge brick slips.
Within the new design some elements of the original restaurant have been retained, such as Pizza Express signature blue neon sign on the exterior, the open-plan kitchen with a pizza oven, a trend which is common place within Italian styled restaurants.
The use of feature walls within the design is inspiring, the exposed brick work contrasts greatly with the marble topped tables.
Suspended lights do a fantastic job of illuminating the dining area and giving a warm and ambient feel.
The great thing out our Knightsbridge Multi brick slip is that it works with almost any installation, with handmade creases, this brick outshines most for this purposed type of installation.
Product – Knightsbridge Multi
The product is a slight dark red which comes from the rich clay base, features of the brick include light and dark tones which intermittently break up the canvass of the wall.
This installation utilises both brick slips and brick slip corners, expertly installed using rapid setting adhesive and pointed with a traditional sand and cement mortar.
On walls of this size the contractors would have used 10mm brick slip tile spaces. The use of these tile spaces is advised when working over large areas.
The resulting finish for this installation is one that exudes modern society. It is a great design which is now tried and tested, and we love the result and how it boasts the great finish that can be achieved with our Knightsbridge multi brick slips.
