Drinking to Brick slip successs
When it comes to coffee, it is fair to say the the UK is now hooked. Once a stern Tea drinking nation we have gradually morphed in recent decades to coffee connoisseurs.
In the UK coffee is dominated by one brand, Costa Coffee. With over 3500 outlets, covering a staggering 31 counties Costa Coffee has become one of the world’s leading brands.
Having supplied our brick slips to many of the UK’s Costa Coffee outlets this stunning case study focuses on Costa’s Essex Offices and their use of brick slips within the internal design.
Design
Material choices when fitting out the offices of top brands like Costa Coffee are selected specially. This worldwide brand creates impact and is so iconic it has to be identified.
Eccentrically designed and funky seating promotes a cosmopolitan and earthly feel. Along side typical British accents like a red telephone box and steel picket fencing the design really benifits from the use of brick slip cladding.
This Costa infused design is certainly not a Flat White. The feel and fun factor which runs throughout has all the sugar and spark of a Toffee nut iced latte. Modern and hip.
Every now and then a brick slip office installation comes along where the nature of their business really does permeate through the facility, this one does just that.
From drawing board the designers knew exactly the kind of look and feel that they wanted, ensuring that area was designed based on the function of the space.
The environment needed to be a stimulating and communicative area that promoted collaboration and the sharing of ideas.
From the seating to the bold colour walls each space needed to be bright and bold, but also professional and flexible enough to be used for different tasks.
Product
Brick work and brick slips are fantastic for working spaces. This concept has been amplified to perfection where large arched feature walls of red brick dominate.
Creating internal brick work like this is simple as long as you use the correct product.
Olde Bayswater blend is a stand out product and would be the perfect choice for creating this reclaimed exposed look.
Like Costa’s installation, this product works amazingly well against timber and natural palettes of tone.
Achieving this look the brick slips are installed using a rapid setting tile adhesive and are pointed using a gun injected pointing mortar.
Result
Costa Coffee serves amazing quality coffee in outlets across the world, keeping these outlets served and organized a great office network is required.
A fun office network where the employees are encourage to think and relax. Costa Essex is a great example of a fun working office.
A fantastic case study that exhibits in great detail how brick cladding can lift a room, embody a brand and create both traditional and modern tones.
